care and maintenance

Spills must be cleaned up with a damp cloth immediately. To ensure your floors remain in good quality you must vacuum frequently or sweep using a soft brush, to prevent dirt and grit from scratching or dulling the floors finish. Clean your floor with a damp mop, using warm water with no more than a cup of methylated spirits. Make sure you do not allow excess water to remain on the floor otherwise you will damage your wood floor, in the case of a spill immediately wipe off any excess water. As an extra safe guard you may want to put a mat for cleaning shoes outside the door and clean it often. Do not use any chemical agent to clean the timber floor.

Do not drag heavy or metal objects on the surface of the floor However when you need to move heavy furniture or appliances do so carefully by placing them on a piece of carpet face down and sliding them slowly to your desired position. Floor planet highly recommends the use of commercially available felt tipped floor protectors. Once you have set the protectors in place you will ensure maximum protection against scratching and denting. Do not wax the newly installed floor because this will make the floor dark and make it difficult to re-varnish. Cleaning floors has never been easier giving you extra time to spend with your family, allowing you more freedom to do what you love to do best.

Both you and your floor planet floor will benefit from a healthy ambient climate. A room temperature of 20 to 22 degrees Celsius and relative humidity of about 50 to 65 % will provide ideal conditions for you and your floor. It goes without saying that rooms should not just be heated but also regularly aired. Especially in new buildings it is possible that residual damp from walls and floors make it necessary to use dehumidifiers.
